Spain versus Belgium is the clash of two very different footballing philosophies — and possibly the final chapter of Belgium's celebrated Golden Generation. Spain, who ended Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup career with a Mikel Merino stoppage-time winner in the Round of 16, have been the most tactically complete side of the tournament. Lamine Yamal has been electric throughout, Pedri has controlled midfields at will, and La Roja have yet to concede a single goal in five matches. Belgium, by contrast, have relied on individual brilliance — Kevin De Bruyne's creativity, Romelu Lukaku's predatory instinct and Charles De Ketelaere's inspired performances in the knockout rounds — to get this far. Their 4-1 dismantling of the USA was their most complete display of the tournament. The question is whether Belgium's ageing core can sustain that level against a Spain side that seems to have answers for everything. It could be the last time De Bruyne, Lukaku and Courtois all share a World Cup pitch — win or lose, this Belgian generation deserves a fitting send-off.
